Practical Action, setting out post-tsunami in 2005, began working with small scale coastal fisher folk to help train them in building needs-specific craft and gear to increase trade efficiency and to build skills for self sufficiency. Participating in co-governance and policy making activities related to the industry is a key aspect in this approach to trade-based community training. The approach gives due importance to the role of fisher women, making it a comprehensive one. |
