Addressing Local Level Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Issues through Gramasabha

A workshop will be organized by Practical Action in collaboration with Ministry of Disaster Management and Ministry of Economic Development (Janasaba Secretariat) to brainstorm and explore the potential for effective integration of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Climate Change (CC) into local level development through Gramsabha. An active discussion is envisaged among the invited speakers and participants to frame an appropriate mechanism and process. In addition, participants would be able to hear from representatives from India, Pakistan, Nepal and Pakistan on similar experiences.

Session Objectives:

  • To explore potentials and possibilities of integrating DRR and Climate change issues within the Gramsaba framework for local level decision making/development planning processes.
  • To identify the process for effective integration of DRR and Climate change within the Gramsabha framework.
  • To develop collaborative plan to pilot test the process.
